Mission

A classical music festival that delivers concrete added value.

Kamarikesä is Finland's only festival primarily designed to encourage, internationalize, employ, and promote young musicians with long-term aspirations. The festival aims to fulfill a broader social purpose alongside its activities, generating concrete added value in the field of classical music.

Kamarikesä achieves its mission in several ways, including the following:

By raising public awareness on young top talents in the field of classical music.

Kamarikesä is Finland's only festival focused on encouraging, employing, and promoting young musicians with long-term aspirations. Its goal is to serve as a launching pad for young talent in classical music and to raise public awareness for the increasing number of emerging talent in the Finnish music scene.

By producing engaging high-quality chamber music concerts for broad audiences in downtown Helsinki

Kamarikesä fills a gap in Helsinki's cultural summer by providing engaging and high-quality programming with exciting new artists. Throughout its 20-year history, the festival has offered a wide range of chamber music concerts on a top-level. Performers have included both domestic and international young talents, ranging from Klaus Mäkelä and Dalia Stasevska to Jonathan Roozeman, Tarmo Peltokoski and Senja Rummukainen.

By innovating new ways to experience classical music and bringing internationally acclaimed concert concepts to Helsinki.

Kamarikesä innovates, designs, and implements new ways to experience and engage with classical music. The festival has offered its audience the opportunity to experience internationally successful concepts such as the “Concert by Candlelight” as well as the trending lunch event “Soup and Chamber Music” from Stockholm.

By providing important performance and networking opportunities for talented young classical musicians.

At Kamarikesä, prominent names in classical music perform alongside the emerging talents of the next generation as equals, creating an inspiring and communal atmosphere. For young artists, this offers a unique opportunity to network with experienced professionals, advance their careers, and deepen their expertise. Performing alongside seasoned musicians supports both employment opportunities and the development of lifelong professional relationships.

By supporting the internationalization and development of young Finnish musicians.

The goal of international collaboration within Kamarikesä is to provide audiences the unique opportunity to hear the top names of the classical music industry in Helsinki already at an early stage, as well as to facilitate collaboration between talented young Finnish musicians and leading experts in their field across national borders.

For young musicians at the beginning of their careers, networking is increasingly important in an ever-globalizing art market. Performing alongside international artists not only allows young musicians to gain insight into international excellence but also motivates them to enhance their own skills, thereby raising the level of Finnish musicians even higher.

By training future leaders in the arts.

Kamarikesä offers an unparalleled and unique learning environment for both artistic and production activities, where enthusiasm, experimentation, dedication, and motivation are encouraged. The festival aims to build networks that span across the field, allowing for the continued development of classical music for decades to come.

Kamarikesä’s mission is for the solutions, skills, and friendships developed within its framework to last and have a concrete impact on the Finnish cultural landscape for decades to come.
